Level Up Your Engagement With Viewer Queue

Get ready for a lot more GG’s in the chat, as we are happy to announce the beta release of Viewer Queue to all StreamElements Twitch users.

Playing and interacting with your viewers is an effective way to reward and connect with your community while livestreaming. So whether you want to squad up in Valorant, need help to escape the killer in Dead by Daylight, or just want to watch some funny videos with your chat, Viewer Queue helps make inviting folks from your community to game with you or suggest what you should do next, hassle-free.

What is Viewer Queue?

Viewer Queue–which is 100% FREE like all our features–allows you to open a queue where your viewers will be able to join and be selected either at random, or based on pre-selected loyalty criteria (subscribers, followers, watch time, etc.). By providing your viewers a chance to play with you, while allowing you to automate the management of which viewer to play with next, it makes community engagement one step easier.

How can Viewer Queue help my stream?

There are two major benefits to using Viewer Queue:

  • Increase engagement: Interacting with your viewers is one of the best ways to grow your channel, and playing with your viewers is an awesome way to create one-of-a-kind experiences that will turn casual viewers into loyal fans.
  • Reward loyal viewers and increase monetization: Viewer Queue allows you to give priority access to followers and subscribers which is a good incentive for your community to follow or subscribe.

How do I set up the Viewer Queue?

You can set up a queue with Viewer Queue here: Install Viewer Queue.

We also made a step-by-step video guide to help you install Viewer Queue in less than 40 seconds.

Want written step-by-step instructions too? We got you.

Step 1: Ensure Chat bot is activated

Find on Dashboard and select, ‘Join Channel’. Chat bot must be activated to run the Viewer Queue feature.

Step 2: Locate Viewer Queue under Loyalty or Modules tab

Navigate to Loyalty section and select, ‘Viewer Queue’ to start setting up feature or navigate to the Chat bot section and select, ‘Modules’ to set up feature.

Step 3: Give your Viewer Queue a title

This is the name that will be posted in chat to notify followers that the queue has started, and they can now join.

Step 4: Set your Viewer Queue entry conditions

These selections will determine who you play with first.

You have four options:

  • Everyone — opens your queue to everyone in your chat, and you can choose who you’d like to play with first, or ‘randomize it’ so that Viewer Queue picks them for you.
  • Followers — this limits queue access to ONLY followers of your channel. (which helps incentivize folks to follow you 😉)
  • Subscriber — this limits queue access to ONLY subscribers of your channel. (which helps incentivize folks to subscribe 🤑)
  • VIP — this limits queue access to ONLY VIP members that you have designated within your Twitch channel (read more about Twitch VIPs here).

Step 5: Set your queue size limit and then hit start

Size limit will determine how many viewers can join your queue at a time.

Note: “Size” is not a mandatory input so the “START” button becomes active after “title” and “entry conditions” are entered.

Once you’ve locked in the size of your queue, you’re ready to hit the ‘START’ button.

Step 6: Viewers can now join the Queue

Viewers join the queue by typing, “!queue join”.

Other Viewer Queue Chat Commands:

  • !queue pick <username> — Viewer is manually picked
  • !queue pick random — Viewer is randomly picked
  • !queue remove <username> — Viewer is removed
  • !queue list — Viewers can see a full list of the queue
  • !queue position — Viewers can see their position in the queue
  • !queue close — Lets the viewer know the queue is closed
  • !queue pause — Stops viewers from entering the queue
  • !queue unpause — Queue re-opened

Step 7: Select who you want to play with

You can manually select who you want to play with, or let Viewer Queue “shuffle” your picks at random.

Now you’re all set to create memorable experiences with your community!

What are your thoughts?

From the documentation page:
"Q: Can viewers join the queue multiple times? A: By default, viewers can only join the queue once. This setting can be adjusted in the module configuration."
Where is this setting? I would like to allow viewers to get…

I noticed how there isn't a command for simply picking the first viewer in queue. Is this true? Do streamers really have to look who is first in queue and manually select them every time?
