Streamovator: MikeTheBard

--

Welcome to Streamovators where we profile members of the StreamElements community who are producing unique content on their channels. Today’s Streamovator is MikeTheBard, a one-man variety show who mixes comedy, improv, music, gaming, and once even Snoop Dogg, into an eclectic experience that is the perfect example of a Streamovator. Let’s learn a little more about the Shakespeare of streaming…

Q. So how did a bard end up streaming on Twitch?

MikeTheBard: I’ve been a gamer, musician, and entertainer since I was a kid. I spent many years trying to find my place in the world. Marketing, writing, social work, voice over work, and a myriad of other careers. I began streaming in 2012 as a way to be an entertainer, since I wasn’t doing it professionally, and rarely felt creatively fulfilled. Streaming allows me to be the most creative and the most entertaining I could possibly be, and has provided me with an incredible community and a sense of accomplishment. I look forward to continuing to grow as a channel, and entertain for many years to come.

Q. You have a lot going on with your channel. Break it down for me.

My channel is gaming, comedy, music, and improv alongside a long-standing, welcoming community. I play GTA V RP on the NoPixel Server, sing with Twitch Sings, do music segments with multiple instruments and a loop pedal on my stage with multiple cams and a light show, play new games when they come out, and have a weekly Community Day.

Q. What resonates most with your viewers?

People enjoy our welcoming, inclusive atmosphere, and typically enjoy the variety of entertainment the stream provides.

Q. You definitely know how to rock the mic. What is your set-up like?

I built my setup which includes 3 PCs, a stage with DMX lights, many monitors, 9 cams, and multiple instruments very carefully over almost 8 years. Lots of troubleshooting hours. I use StreamElements alerts, giveaways, and points system.

Q. Any musical high points?

So far through streaming I rapped directly with Snoop Dogg and sang indirectly with Jack Black.
